As an award-winning artist and director, David offers his expertise and inspiration to students who have a desire to work toward artistic and technical mastery.

Many of his current and past students are working professional actors and vocalists, but he teaches any level of performer who thrives on the creative process.

He has directed and cast films, podcasts, live action dubbing sessions, animation projects and music videos. Clients include Netflix, Disney, Iyuno, Pixelogic, Encore Voices, History Channel, Sugar 23 Productions, Enlightened Pictures, Benjamin Goldman Productions, Dick’s Sporting Goods and many others.

David holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Vocal Performance from UCLA, a Certificate in Classical Acting from Bennett Theatre Lab, and a Certificate in Film Directing from Los Angeles City College.

David has appeared in over 30 stage plays and musicals in San Francisco and Los Angeles, including the world premiere of "Reunion" directed by Kay Cole and the world premiere of “Going, Going, Gone”, written by Ken Levine.

Biography

David began working professionally as an actor in 1997 by voicing several Sony Playstation video games, most notably Ashton Anchors in Star Ocean and Melbu in Legend of the Dragoon.

Also during his time in the SF Bay Area he worked as an actor and musical director at top theater companies, including TheaterWorks, Willows, California Conservatory Theater, San Francisco Shakespeare Company, Berkeley Repertory Theater, Art Street Theatre, Pacific Playback Theater, and Studio A.C.T. In 2002, he played a supporting role in the award-winning independent feature, Want, and in 2003 played the lead role in the critically acclaimed improvised feature, I.P.O. From 1996-2000, David was a vocalist in the Berkeley-based experimental jazz vocal ensemble, Mirabai.

David returned to Los Angeles in 2005 where he continued operating David Babich Studio after originating it in the Bay Area in 1999. In addition to his private teaching practice, he taught Voice and Guitar at the Santa Monica Academy of Music from 2006-2009.

In 2013, David joined Screen Actors Guild and began his television acting career.

In 2018, he began working in the live-action dubbing world as a voice actor and director, and has now directed over 130 episodes of dubbing for Netflix and Disney Plus.

In 2020, he went back to school to study film-making, completing a Film Directing Certificate program in 2023.
